Resident Evil: Requiem | pcd PC GOTY | 2026Resident Evil Requiem earns its GOTY nomination by combining the series’ survival horror roots with a more ambitious approach to modern Resident Evil. Its return to Raccoon City gives the game weight, but the nomination is not based on nostalgia alone. Grace Ashcroft brings a vulnerable, investigative side to the experience, while Leon S. Kennedy provides the confidence, combat intensity and familiar presence expected from the franchise. That contrast gives Requiem an identity and keeps its pacing varied without losing tension. Detailed environments, oppressive atmosphere, sharp sound design and carefully controlled encounters make exploration consistently engaging. As a GOTY candidate, Requiem stands out because it feels both recognizable and refreshed, respecting what made Resident Evil iconic while showing that Capcom can still expand the formula without sacrificing the fear, pressure and personality at its core...

Esoteric Ebb | pcd PC GOTY | 2026Esoteric Ebb earns its GOTY nomination by proving that a dialogue-driven CRPG can feel as memorable and ambitious as much larger releases. Set in the strange fantasy city of Norvik, it follows a cleric investigating a political conspiracy just days before a historic election, with a goblin companion and a constant stream of unpredictable choices. Tabletop-inspired dice rolls, reactive statistics and branching conversations make failure almost as entertaining as success, while the writing gives absurd situations surprising weight. Its Disco Elysium influence is obvious, but Esoteric Ebb quickly develops a voice of its own through humor, theology and genuine role-playing freedom. As a nominee, it stands out for rewarding curiosity, experimentation and personality, turning a seemingly modest investigation into one of the year’s most distinctive, confidently written and genuinely memorable PC role-playing experiences this year...

Forza Horizon 6 | pcd PC GOTY | 2026Forza Horizon 6 earns its Game Of The Year nomination by delivering the series’ most confident blend of speed, spectacle and open-world freedom, with Japan giving the festival formula a setting that feels genuinely fresh. Dense city streets, mountain roads, coastal routes and quieter rural areas create strong visual and driving variety, while the large car roster and constant stream of events keep progression lively. The handling remains accessible without becoming shallow, making it easy to enjoy casual cruising, competitive racing or experimentation with different builds. On desktop PC, the presentation is especially impressive, with sharp image quality, detailed environments and strong performance reinforcing the sense of polish. As a nominee, Forza Horizon 6 stands out because it combines technical quality, variety and pure driving enjoyment with a world that constantly invites one more race, route or discovery ahead...

Pragmata | pcd PC GOTY | 2026Pragmata earns its GOTY nomination by turning a long-awaited Capcom project into one of the year’s most distinctive science-fiction adventures. Set aboard a lunar research station overrun by rogue AI, it follows Hugh and the android Diana as they fight for a route back to Earth. Its identity comes from pairing third-person shooting with Diana’s hacking abilities, making combat feel more tactical than a standard action game. The relationship between the two characters gives the journey emotional weight, while the station’s sterile environments, machinery and isolation create a strong futuristic atmosphere. As a nominee, Pragmata stands out because it feels focused, unusual and confident rather than designed by committee. After years of anticipation, Capcom delivered a game with a clear personality, memorable central duo and combat system that genuinely separates it from other major releases...

007 First Light | pcd PC GOTY | 2026007 First Light earns its GOTY nomination by giving James Bond a fresh origin story built around espionage, infiltration and cinematic action rather than simply recreating familiar film moments. The game follows a younger Bond early in his career, allowing the story to explore how his confidence, instincts and methods are formed while giving players more room to shape encounters. Stealth, gadgets, social infiltration and gunplay create a varied rhythm, with missions designed to reward observation as much as aggression. Its strongest appeal comes from balancing recognizable Bond style with the freedom of a modern action adventure. As a nominee, 007 First Light stands out because it treats the license as a foundation rather than a shortcut, delivering atmosphere, personality and player choice while still capturing the elegance, danger and spectacle expected from James Bond...

Terra Invicta | pcd PC GOTY | 2026Terra Invicta earns its GOTY nomination by turning grand strategy into a tense, slow-burning struggle for humanity’s future, where political influence, scientific progress and space warfare are tightly connected. Instead of commanding a single nation, players guide a faction competing for control across Earth while preparing for an escalating extraterrestrial threat. The campaign demands long-term planning, careful resource management and difficult choices, with victories often built years before they become visible. Its simulation-heavy design gives diplomacy, research, orbital infrastructure and fleet construction genuine weight, creating a sense of scale few strategy games attempt. As a nominee, Terra Invicta stands out because it rewards patience, foresight and adaptation, transforming an alien invasion scenario into a complex strategic sandbox where every alliance, technology and launch decision can reshape humanity’s chances of survival across the entire Solar System...

Mortal Shell II | pcd PC GOTY | 2026Mortal Shell II earns its GOTY place by taking the original game’s strongest idea and pushing it into something larger, faster and more confident. Cold Symmetry keeps the bleak atmosphere, but opens the structure into an interconnected world built around exploration, hidden paths and dangerous encounters. Combat is more aggressive, dropping stamina restrictions and giving players freedom to chain attacks, dodge, use sidearms and break enemy posture. The returning Shell system remains the heart of the experience, letting warriors reshape how each fight is approached through abilities and upgrade paths. What stands out is how much identity the sequel has gained. Mortal Shell II no longer feels like an echo of the Souls formula; it feels like a game willing to bend that formula, sharpen it and turn its brutality into something distinctly its own....

The Blood of Dawnwalker | pcd PC GOTY | 2026The Blood of Dawnwalker earns its GOTY place by putting choice, consequence and role-playing ahead of constant combat. Rebel Wolves builds Vale Sangora around a thirty-day structure where meaningful actions consume time, forcing players to decide what truly matters instead of clearing every icon from the map. Coen’s human and vampire states give day and night mechanical importance, changing abilities, opportunities and the way quests can unfold. Strong writing, memorable characters and a dark medieval atmosphere carry the experience, while the focused open world avoids unnecessary scale. Combat has weight and requires attention, though some animations feel slightly stiff and could transition more smoothly. What makes Dawnwalker stand out is its willingness to accept missed paths, imperfect outcomes and permanent decisions. It feels influenced by The Witcher, but confident enough to build its own identity.
