This is not being presented as a casual desk keyboard with RGB and a gaming label attached to it. Cherry XTRFY is calling it the first 8K Ultra-Wideband gaming keyboard, and that immediately makes it more interesting than another normal 2.4 GHz wireless board. The promise is simple: a compact low-profile keyboard with 8,000 Hz polling in both wired and wireless mode, built for players who want a smaller setup, more mouse space and less latency concern. That sounds great on paper. The real question is whether 8K keyboard polling is something most players will actually feel, or whether it is mainly another premium spec number for the box.
The K63W Pro Compact was introduced around Computex 2026, and the headline feature is clearly the Ultra-Wideband wireless connection. Cherry says the keyboard can report to the PC up to eight times every millisecond, in both wired and wireless use. That is where the “8K” part comes from. In normal language, the keyboard is trying to reduce input delay and keep wireless performance closer to what competitive players expect from wired peripherals. TechRadar also reports that Cherry is positioning it as a high-performance mouse-and-keyboard option, with a UWB dongle used for the wireless connection instead of relying on typical Bluetooth behavior. The compact layout is another important part of the design. This is a 70% keyboard, which means it keeps a smaller footprint while still offering more function than the most extreme compact boards. For competitive gaming, that matters because a smaller keyboard leaves more space for mouse movement, especially for lower sensitivity players who need room for wide swipes. Tom’s Hardware notes that the K63W Pro uses a 70% layout, gasket mount construction and low-profile switches, which gives it a more premium mechanical-keyboard direction rather than simply being a thin wireless gaming board. The switches are also worth watching. Reports list factory-lubricated CHERRY MX Low Profile 2.0 linear switches, aimed at smoother and quieter key presses while keeping a fast low-profile feel. That fits the whole identity of the board: slim, quick, compact and made for fast input. Low-profile switches are not for everyone, though. Some players love the shorter travel and cleaner desk feel, while others still prefer full-height switches because they feel more substantial under the fingers. That is one of the areas where a real review will matter. Specs can say fast, but typing feel and gaming feel are not always the same thing.
Battery life is another strong point on paper. Cherry mentions a 6,000 mAh battery, and several reports reference up to 1,100 hours of use depending on mode and conditions. That is a big claim for a wireless gaming keyboard, especially one pushing high polling performance. The keyboard can also be charged while in use, which matters because a premium wireless keyboard should not become annoying the moment the battery drops. Still, battery estimates always need real testing. Polling rate, lighting, wireless mode, sleep behavior and daily use can change the real result a lot. The biggest discussion around this keyboard is probably the 8K polling rate itself. On a mouse, high polling can make more immediate sense because constant movement creates more visible input updates. On a keyboard, the benefit is less obvious for many players. A key press is a simpler event than mouse movement, and not every game or player will feel a huge difference between strong 1K wireless and 8K wireless. But that does not make the feature useless. For competitive players, rhythm games, fast shooters, fighting-adjacent PC setups, or anyone chasing the lowest possible input delay across the whole desk, it could still matter. The important thing is not to pretend that 8K automatically makes everyone better. It is a performance ceiling, not a magic button. The price also puts the K63W Pro into premium territory. Reports list a U.S. price of $169.99 with an August launch, while Europe is expected around €179.99 / £179.99 with July availability. That is not cheap, especially when there are many good wired and wireless gaming keyboards already available for less. But the pricing is not shocking either if the build quality, wireless stability, battery life and switch feel are strong. This is clearly not meant to compete with budget mechanical boards. It is aimed at players who want compact, wireless, fast and premium in one package.
What makes the K63W Pro interesting for pcdoorz is that it sits right between real innovation and spec-sheet marketing. Ultra-Wideband wireless could be a meaningful step if it gives players a cleaner, more stable connection with less interference and strong battery behavior. The 70% layout is practical. The low-profile switches make sense for a fast compact board. The 6,000 mAh battery sounds strong. But the final value depends on details that cannot be fully judged from an announcement: key feel, stabilizers, acoustics, software, wireless reliability, latency consistency and whether 8K polling creates a difference players can actually notice. For now, this is a hardware preview worth watching. The Cherry XTRFY K63W Pro Compact looks like one of the more interesting keyboard announcements from Computex 2026 because it is not only changing shape or color. It is trying to push wireless keyboard performance into a more serious technical direction. That does not mean everyone needs an 8K keyboard, and it definitely does not mean cheaper boards suddenly became bad. But if Cherry XTRFY delivers the wireless stability, build quality and typing feel to match the claims, this could become a strong premium option for competitive players who want a smaller desk footprint without returning to a cable.
